Formula 1 shared rights with Sky

I am pretty sure Webber will win once Sky have it. I wonder if they have been hacking Williams, Ferrari and McLaren phones and computer systems?

In the meantime, F1 or no the BBC gladly receive my support even if the glory days are long over.

It was bad enough when the F1 went to ITV , adverts a plenty ,can only assume It will be worse on SKY.

This is all about making money and not giving a better service for the fans

It sucks, end of

They have ads here on the BBC feed on TSN, but the race is always on through them in a 1/4 screen picture in picture window

Would rather watch the ads than formula 1 anyway!
Find it to be an incredibly tedious procession. I know it's a showcase for technology, but the cars are so far removed from the cars we drive it's ridiculous!
They seem to change the rules every year (sometimes part way through the season) to try to make it interesting, but it doesn't work for me.
Give me bike racing any day - the riders have personality and at least there's some overtaking.

You have some sense mixed in there. I was turned off F1 for a few seasons for the reasons you mention, but there is a lot more going on than it seemed, and I enjoy it again. Bike racing has always been far more involving, and I think for partly the reason that the bikes are not so far away from what we can go out and put together. I don't think the riders have that much more personality, but there is a heck of a lot more exciting racing going on on the track.

Reckon it is just the ubiquity of car use that lends F1 its audience.

Havn't read all this but

most countries in Europe have a TV License fee.

We have the added bonus of the BBC. TV wise we are the best off in Europe, we pay a TV license and have something to show for it, unlike France, Germany, Switzerland Austria Denmark etc.

Ours isn't anywhere near as some countries pay

was really gutted to hear this news, why cant they scrap top gear instead?

One of the differences I see between F1 and, say Moto GP, or WSBK, is F1 is "for sure" much more corporate. I suspect that has a fair impact on how drivers or riders are perceived when interviewed.

Plus, as you allude, bike racing seems almost more of a down-to-earth motorsport, perhaps where the participants haven't had their rough edges ground by the big corporate machine.

Had the good fortune to meet Valentino Rossi a couple of years ago and he's a really nice, down to earth guy. Given his success (far more wins/titles than any of the formula 1 drivers), it's clear he hasn't been ground down by the corporate machine. His passion for the sport is obvious.
