When you build bikes have you ever fitted parts that you knew were unsuitable ( stems too long, flimsy bars etc), just because you like the parts? Or even the wrong colour?

I used to use a 150mm xlite L168 stem, just because it looked cool :?

Anybody else?

tioga revolver cranks although retro were very good imo....only broke 1 crank arm......

I've built my bikes as riders, but the also fit the golden rule of 'Never sacrifice style for speed'
I'd never fit anything that would be quicker if it looks minging
