i have bar ends and risers on a cheap hack, just about easy riding and plenty of riding postions, but on anything of a proper retro build, i dont have risers

I have two prolapsed discs in my lower back.

And i would rather be in pain than use the bar/end combo!

Yes nuts and weird, but i look good bent over crying like an old man on my proper bars!

Depends if it's making love or casual sex....

If it's love, then looks first
If it's sex, then function first.

But personally, love and sex are both best when combined together so.... I like to have my cake and eat it.

How's that for a no-answer?

Regarding bar ends and risers - I don't find they work well together on either level.

having seen another riser-bars & barends bike in the readers bikes section i wonder what is more important for the retrobike community, esthetic appeal (form) or performance (function) of bikes/bike parts?

was it mine? im guilty of the riser bar end combo but never even thought about it looking wierd until i found retrobike. ive always used barends, i cant remember not using them. it was only recently i started using risers. they came on a cindercone i bought after returning to the uk, so naturally i put some small subbies on. to be honist i dont know what all the fuss is about. they dont look that bad and always get used when i ride. i can understand them looking wierd on a downhill bike of a garage queen  but xc bikes are all about comfort for long rides over all terain, so i think whatever suits the rider is best. it probley depends a lot on how you fit your bike to, im about 6ft and like small frames so having room to move about the bars is always nice. i have tryed riding without them recently and it feels very strainge and took some getting used to. i think ill stick to my old ways and keep using them, after all i love retro for the same reason and its always better to have broken wing mirrors than broken knuckles when riding in traffic
