I think this is the only way to fit cantis to an ahead-stemmed bike...? I figure the normal steerer-mounted type will mess with the headset bearings as the cable pulls it down. Although a clamped one might be ok, it still seems better to keep away if possible...

Other than clamping something like a roller around the stem of course and even I'm not going to tolerate that level of uglybodgedness!

1 1/8" please, and in time to ride next weekend! Silver/red/black/beggers/choosers etc. 8)

I'll go check my lbs too, but I really want a front brake for 10/10/10, so I'm just trying all options ASAP!

Thanks guys, as ever you'll dig me out of my own hole I'm sure!

...and I'll get a pic of what I mean up ASAP.

Like so 8)

first I've heard of it - its no different to using a quill stem with a cable guide in the headset.... :?:

Based on nothing but my own thinking - I figure when the cable pulls the hanger downwards (or tries to) it will load the headset bearings. Maybe it's not enough to matter but I haven't messed with cantis for many a year - and then usually Force40s - so I'm uneducated, as usual!

I would think lgf is correct tbh mate.. ..

If you do want a fork mounted hanger (they aren't very pretty.. imo ) I'll check for my spare..

Perfect if you have one Ian, cheers! 8)

LGF is almost certainly right - but I think it was him that made the 'unused canti bridge' remark & set me down this thorny path in the first place... :x
