Seems like a good enough price to me...

Not NOS, but still rare.

Wish I had a bike for the blue ones too, but for now the black canti's and rear powerlink were enough for my build.

If that blue was a little less teal and a bit more 'sky', I'd love them. Would be a nice match for the MRC Ti stem and bars on my Santana. No Steve, I don't want to sell them! :D

I didn't know MRC existed until I got the Moda.

Now I'm a bit obsessed-the cranksets are phenomenally cool.

I have a set of MRC Steely Danz that would look great on your Santana 8)

Do they still look like this?

I believe they are still in the same box in which you shipped them
they were designated to a wtb phoenix ti and then a Fat Ti, but never made it. Now my collection consists of only 80's era MTBs and one 91, so they no longer are "correct" for anything in my stable.

Hi GT-Steve

Please remind me of your preferred color for brakes on your MRC build?

Also if they're looking a bit scruffy, one thing you might look into is getting the Aluminum parts reanodized.

Hi.

I don't really have a preffered colour, but this lot that I just purchased are low-key black.. :D 8)

Yes.... they would. The Moda has very ovalized tubing, the profile of the chainstay matches the MRC cranks really, really well. I ended up with M900 parts, so I'm happy. :D Technically they are a year too new as my frame is a 1991, but I just don't care!

exactly.

<slight hijack>

i have some of this 'age' problem on my McMahon.
your's is a '91 innit
but mines a monostay one - one was up recently on the 'bay but they didn't mention the age - plus theirs had a different cable routing.

so if mines a 96 (maybe) i should go M950 - earlier and i'm into M900 - which is what i had planned. Steeley dans look ace but then wouldn't they be too old? i deffo think that the lovely MRC forks would look odd on mine, they suit the older frames i think.
so i was thinking sl's or FSX judys.

these blue v style brakes shout modern and would be cool on mine i reckon.

bah. old bikes and their dilemmas/cost implications

:)

I wouldn't worry about any of that^^^^^^ :P :P

Build it how you want... I had originally specced mine with M952, but then the lovely wheels I got were 7speed (now 8sp Ti sprockets  ) so I changed it to a more period M732/5

Personally I think SteelyDanz would look fine, as would McTi forks.

You could always get the older decal set from Gil, and 'force' it to be older looking...

No Idea what year yours is tbh, but I'd hazard a 94/95 guess...

You don't want them anyway, the decal doesn't match the one in your avatar pic-no red. Is this the 'older' decal you mentioned?

The bars had the circular 'M' decal, but it was under the clamp area and scuffed up. It was also off-center by an inch-when I first re-set the bars after I unpacked and assembled it, I centered the decal, figuring that's why it was there. I looked at it for a couple days before I finally took a measurement and found it to be off.

I can soon get some new decals made up.... :D :P

As for the decal you mention, I've never been quite sure if it was an earlier or later logo, but I tend to sway towards it being a latter logo

Strange that it would be off-centre too?? :?

Cool about the decals, I might just have to do that once I get the build done. The one on the stem is pretty good.

The off-center-sticker deal drove me nuts-I'm trying to handle the ti stuff with kid gloves. I don't like sliding parts on and off all the time, risking scratches or overtightening a clamp, etc. I hated to peel the decal off, but it looked pretty stupid off-center, even thought it was under the clamp you could still see it.
