Full bike's worth of bike.

Bought here for better half 12 months ago, she used it once - decided she wants a step-thru frame as would feel more confident.

Nice light, tough and zing-ey 2x butted Tange frame for them 'oo want something different than a Kona init?

I put more lightweight silver AceraX/Weinmann wheels on it from a 1997 (same year) M-Trax, but can swap the (black) LX Araya back on if required/can locate.

Deep red metallic paintjob in excellent condition. Tiny dint on front/side of top tube as was when I received it, nothing else to report.

Decals by Gil.

XT f & R, Deore LX cantilever brakes.

Nice LX STI pods and levers

(Upgrades by me, not pictured) : Vetta Trishock saddle New grips, Easton EA30 Monkeylite bars (silver) and Schwalbe 1.75 hybrid tyres are the only modern additions.

Measurements/pic courtesy of Pickle, the last owner:

In answer to Charlieboy - it's a 1997 - here is the original thread for this bike, originally via Legrandfromage and Pickle, both old hands at this:
http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/vi...&start=0&sid=172deef18dbd82629a7c504490932449

- in addition to the lightness and quality of the frame, and those 'bullet' -like cable-stops on the top-tube, also the rear dropouts - all check out from others I've seen. That's all the provenance I have, it all checks out, if there's anything I can do in the way of pics to give extra evidence (?!) will do tomorrow or Thurs when I get the time, just ask!

I think the 'end cap' (bisecting top/seat tube?) was on earlier models?

For some clarification, the pierced seat-tube and end cap frame design was dropped in about 1996 and certainly from 1997 onwards.

The ProTrax frames have the teardrop shaped cable stops on the top tube, two on the drive side and one on the opposite side.

The seatpost on ProTrax frames will be around 27.0mm due to the thinner tube walls on these lighter frames. Lower models will have thicker tube walls and narrower seat-posts; 26.4mm for example on the HardTrax.

It certainly looks like a ProTrax and as such it will be a nicely built, reasonably light frame and a bike with very nice handling characteristics.

I have a house mate that would have been interested in this but the top tube seems short at 20"....are these known to have short top-tubes...I would have thought 22" would be more 'normal' :?

Harry, I just measured the top tube and it is 22", the measurements on that pic are from tube-to-tube, not centre-tube to centre-tube as it should be measured.

So, it is 22" :)
