For Sale: Marin Palisades Trail SOLD

I often run front low-riders on it - if you look very carefully at the forks you will see it has the braze-ons added (on the front edge) which was done by Chas May before the respray 15 years ago. Typically I leave them off to avoid me packing the kitchen sink. That lot only weighs 13kg, which is fine for rear only (plus barbag).

Handling is great fully loaded - 43mph down a hill in Australia with 4 panniers and a barbag...steady as a rock. 8)

In the past I used the Blackburn low-riders with the u-bolt round the fork, it's PVC coated so doesn't mark the paint.

How do you find that it handles over rough ground loaded at the rear? I have recently been using a rear-only cargo box, and am struggling a bit to keep things under control.

When loaded they all handle like trucks! You get used to it. That photos was taken last year in France - I did a 75 miler that day with 20 miles on mixed gravel from tracks down to singletrack paths through dunes.

A box is probably worst as the weight is high. I put the heavy stuff in the bottom of the panniers and the things on top are light - sleeping bag and groceries for the last 10 miles or so to wherever I'm camping.

Low-riders at the front do balance the weight a lot, but the temptation is to fill them!!!
