One of the most amazing cars ever made.

A Porsche 917 flat 12 engine being fired for the first time in 30 years with just the aid of some Start Ya B*stard

All looks a bit fresh for being dormant for 30 years though :?, though to be fair it was in a museum and race cars are regularly rebuilt when in use.

Sweet, just half way through watching it. So they bought is from "some museum in europe" and shipped it over there 8)

Wonder if the difficulty starting was do to with the low grade petrol in the US, the octane rating is lower i think.

Sounds awesome!

EDIT, actually, it sounds like it's missing a cylinder :?

Good point .

Personally I would have stripped it before starting it . My speakers are crappier than a phones so it just sounded like a tractor to me .

thats ******* awsome and inspiring, turned my xr over the other day in prep for its fist proper start sometime very soon, been stood nearly 3 years and only driven it once

hope mine sound a touch like that lol

cheers :D

One of the finest sounds on earth is a 917 crackling on the over-run into Tetre Rouge with a pair of 512S Ferarri's hunting it down and then wailing off into the darkness of the Mulsanne straight. You can hear them all the way down the 3 mile straight on a good night. There are three 917 and four 512's at the Le Mans Classic this summer. Looking forward to seeing and hearing them again doing what they do best; always seems so sad to see them sat in a museum.
