I've just had an engineer cnc me some critical parts for my f4 blt amp fork
problem was that one of the pivot points had broken ,it was missing a 350lb spring and the spring preload collars [above and below the spring] were also missing
after a lengthy discussion ,,he said he would make not just the broken / missing stuff but the pivots and preload collars for both sides,as he wanted to 'beef - up' all the parts and make them stronger in the critical areas of high stress, was expecting them in a fortnight but he delivered them by hand 2 days later and hung about till i was happy that they all fitted correctly
All for £120
He also made and included two jigs,1 for helping you compress the spring for fitting the lower collar, and another for gripping the shock shaft ,when changing the rebound rate,it allows you to unscrew the end cap without damaging the shaft
The parts in the pic show-
On the left front it shows the original pivot point and collars, behind that is the shock with the pivot screwed on the end of the shaft and the lower collar beside it,the top pivot is now cnc'd in one piece whereas it was two before,he did this because it would be much stronger[good stuff] and the two jigs are in the background
All i need now are two 350lb compression springs
if i can get 1 thats long enough to cut then it'll have to do
But if any forum member can point me in that direction ,would be fantastic
AS to the alloy used ,i think it would be something like T6 ,he dismissed that and said he'd use ALUTEC at least thats what i think he called it
he showed me a little test
he took two large blocks of alloy ,1 t6 and 1 aultec[?]
he then slammed the two together on their edges
the t6 had a smallish indent ,the alutec[?] was undamaged
