Flat pedals for MTB's????

Flats for me. I've V12's on my '98 Scott Boulder and the new Shimano MX30's on my '98 Marin Alpine Trail. If you like flats, use them. Shoe-wise, I use the new Shimano AM40's. A bit bright but are comfy and give excellent grip.

See the bike in my sigs, both are on large flatties, one V8's the other Outland. Neither look that bad IMO. I used clips and straps when doing the roadie thing was in and they were OK and then SPD's but both were too restrictive IMO.
If Money permitted and I could find them both bikes would use the original Shimano beartrap XT's (not the cut away cages, the full size ones)

Carl.

I agree with the last comment and I've gone with the route of early XT PD-M730 pedals for when I want non-SPD hardware for riding. My DeKerf now sports a set, and when get to completing my restoration, my RM Blizzard will too.

Not retro, not expensive.

But Santa is bringing some of these for my Zaskar, just love em.

Big and extremely grippy

They dont use bearings so tend to rattle a bit :?

GT made 2 sets of parallelogram platforms. One with replaceable pins, and a cheaper version with cast pins. The story I heard was they bought the molds/rights for the Shimano DX pedals when they were discontinued.

Shimano released a second version of their DX pedals. They were pricey.

The original DX was a BMX pedal that folk used to transfer over to MTB's BITD think they were late 80's and were used pretty much from the word go by some....
