Fixed wheel hub with free wheel option Possibly Raleigh linked?

Has anyone come across a hub that allows both fixed and freewheel? From the same side, not a flip flop but something that swaps roles? A mate who had a bike shop for many years reckons he has such a thing. It couldn't be found quickly in his mess and I was in a hurry. And he talks too much. He said it was something to do with Raleigh although I didn't get any more info. Won't see him for a bit so unlikely to se it in the flesh but I wondered if anyone here had heard of such a thing.

Fixed free hubs, common in the lightweight era, have fixed threads one side freewheel the other.

But I think by "from the same side " you're asking for a long thread to take a freewheel and then a fixed, then a lockring thread to hold the latter on.
This would give 2 poor chainlines, so it's unlikely -
But I have seen hubs with very, very long Threaded sections , and I don't know what they were for🤔

Flip-flop is technically a bmx thing allowing 2 different sprocket fixings, one has a smaller thread for a bigger gear.
- although the hipsters brought the word over to apply to fixed-free, and now its in Wikipedia so I've just got to accept it🙄

You can screw a freewheel on the fixed threads, just less holding it on …… and the chainline is a bit off.

Nope. Not a fixed/free hub. Sorry about the flip flop label, it's what we called them in the late 70's. Old habits etc. Don't worry, it will never be a fixie! Definitely a "switchable" sprocket. I have visions of a freewheel with a pin that locks it or something.
