Fitting a headset

Probably a stupid question and I probably know the answer already but... is it worth paying my lbs to fit my headset for my frame, I've fitted headsets before but they've been on good old steel bmx's, the frame I need to put the headset on is carbon so am a bit more dubious.

Screw that, a bit of wood and a large hammer and you're away 8)

This is a joke - use of hammers on carbon frames is not recommended

The old threaded rod and big huge washers DIY method is also worth making- I just set new pivot bearings in my Switchblade using a 14mm bolt and nut with a few penny washers- worked like a charm. Cost £1.64 8)

Hmmm I've got a big G-clamp that I could use to press them in, just called my lbs though and they can do removal of old one and fitting of new one for 8 quid and do it on the same day, so I think on this occasion with how little spare time I have now days I may just leave it to em lol

just whack it in man!

heres sithlord fitting the king Ti to my moots........

he he........we done it with the press actually, easy peasy. just make sure you use some copper grease on it so it doesnt sieze to the frame over the years.

Why is he using a tiny little pink bicycle to protect the cup? I would have used a bit of wood!!! :D

For £8 I'd ask how they are going to fit it . You don't want to leave it with them and they just bash it in with a bit of pipe that's lying around

I took mine to my LBS today, cos I chickened out of doing it myself.

£5 for the privelige, and I stood and watched the mechanic do it, too. 8)
