As suggested by 'The Mechanic' a quick breeze out to the Cat and Fiddle via Alderley Edge from the lower slopes of south Manchester would be just the ticket... 53miles and 5 1/2 hours later it's a hot bath and a stiff g & t to recover...
Apparently the second highest pub in England, it features a 7 mile climb out of Macclesfield - good job I had a large cog on the rear!
