Fingers Crossed...

Re:

Interesting Matt......

A couple of things.....it's got a race number peg, internal cable routing, vertical dropouts, all consistent with a high end frame...

It's also got the maxi sport logos on the top tube.......the front wheel looks like a wolber tx profil, all consistent with team frames.....

However the raleigh logos are black, that's a bit strange......

Amyway here's hoping you have unearthed a wee gem!

Where did you get it? It must be from France? Raleigh did do team frames for the French market with the same sticker design but the colours were different......

Cheers Stephen,

You guessed right. From France, €150 delivered.

I have seen those frames - sickers purple and green? It certainly has the signs of being high end, rear brake bridge is Cinelli as well. The black decals I don't get. The only explanation is that they went on at a later date as the originals were damaged and blue weren't available.

Still waiting!!

Assuming the tubing stickers are correct and it is Reynolds 531 then it's perhaps unlikely to have been a Super U or Castorama team frame as I think they only used 753. However, because of the Maxi Sport logo and the race number it could perhaps be an ACBB team frame as they were on Raleighs during the same era. I remember Matt Stephens riding one during the Milk Race when he was on international duty as part of the GB team.

Nice bike, wherever it originated. Had a Dyna Tech in the same colour scheme many moons ago - wish I'd never sold it!

I think the Reynolds stickers are 531 Restoration, so even more of a conundrum!!

I have one of Thierry Marie's race frames from 1990, very similar characteristics to this one, so hopefully a it's a fully fledged team frame.

Cheers

It was a bag of shite!!

However, it was once a rather nice frame. Cinelli shell bb, frame number that was Cyfac, but not a pro frame.

Oh well!!

Re:

That's a pity! What was wrong with the frame Matt, I know the right chain stay was well rusted. Sad to see a quality frame as scrap....
