Fillet brazed frame - still would love to know what this is

I still have this little gem and would love to know what the heck it is !

I first thought it was an Overbuys hence getting the decals made up swiftly ;) I am now not sure that its one after the eagle eyed amongst us :lol:

Unique things are the Fillet brazed Forks , Lack of rack eyes on frame and forks, the rear U brake , lack of chainstay bridge and the seat post clamp is also not the normal fitted to Overbuys stuff, could it be something Orbit ? Bromwich ? Its defo the original paintwork and has 130 rear dropouts and 26.8 seat post.

FWIW, I think it could well be an Overburys still, example below has no rack mounts (same dropouts?), no chainstay bridge, a similar styled seat clamp (though facing t'other way) and a similar brake bridge:

Further, I don't think it shares enough characteristics with the other contenders. Admittedly the Bromwich is the only one I can talk with any knowledge about:

Incorrect lugs, brake hanger bridge, seat clamp shape, TT drop.

To me, it's sufficient that it shares enough traits of other Overburys and does not share sufficient traits with the others, along with the the fact that Overburys could and would have built you whatever you wanted bitd.

Have a look for some pics of mine, there's plenty in the area aftermath threads.

I know the seat clamp is the same, seat tube is 26.8, 130 rear dropouts and the cable routing looks the same...

I'd say it was a 88/89 pioneer, I'll have a look at mine tomorrow if I get chance to see what else looks the same.

I Have puzzled over this long and hard.

I fail to see why they would change so many details on what was a mid level frame from there stable. No chainstay bridge, the top routing cable dead center etc etc etc...
Even a bespoke customer order, I would have thought they would have stayed true to there tried and tested methods, that did bring them so many loyal customers.

I wouldn't compare to Rolys Overburys as theres the time difference and things had obviously moved forward, by then.

if it were the higher model Overburys pioneer of the same year, it would have had a different tubeset, max etc,
if there were cantilevers on the rear, then it would be a different story...
but it isn't and we still have the U brake to identify its age,

If you look at the frames that Lee Cooper was building at the time, (excusing the Orbits et al. with the economy brazing)........, the lack of chainstay bridge, the rear brake cable hoop, the fillet front fork, even the top routed single cable all suggests Lee Cooper to me, even the way the seat cluster joins the seat tube is the same...(although this was common among many at the time.)

Dare I mention the unsubstantiated rumour of when Overburys got into financial trouble with suppliers at the time, frame orders were being fulfilled by another and then ship down to Bristol.

if those decals are original, it wouldn't half explain a lot.

Anyway rightly or wrongly its just some additional thoughts I had.
 
There is something about the look of the forks that reminds me of my Cleland. Perhaps built by the same chap that built the Aventura frames for Geoff?

Edit to add:

Couldn't remember the name but it was Jeremy Torr and he ran English cycles, which I think were based near Overburys?
