Heavy legs this morning, but that was a good one yesterday guys.
Hopefully @tangledfeet hasn’t been too put off, by Keith’s arse talk.

No, not at all! If I recall we all ended up contributing to that discussion; in fact, its my arse that most of all this morning...

It was indeed a good ride, and I had a great day out - thanks again for the soup at the end; needed it to get me home!

morning All,

I was exactly the same, absolutely dead on Saturday night but thoroughly enjoyed the day out doing something different.
Cheers CLubby for the excellent breakfast roll and choice of route. 36 miles over the rolling Angus countryside with some excellent views and barsteward climbs with a fair sprinkling of lovely simgle track. The coffee shop was also a most excellent choice.

Ended up a longer day than most of us thought with a 10am kick off until the 4pm finish pretty much pedalling most of the time apart from that sweet swooping downhill which felt like the run down to eau rouge! (well to me anyway)

Highlights of the day
Peams Pissflaps - or mudguards as he called them. and the endless rattling. which was never mentioned at all (quoting myself "does aluminium burn")
Views over to Forfar.
Haggis and "flet" sausage roll as we say in cowdenbeath

Lowlights
My 1st puncture on the gravel bike due to a stealth pot hole
My 2nd puncture on the gravel bike due to me being an erse and not checking the tyre
Trying to keep up with Clubby who thanks to his miracle weightloss was fair scudding along on the roads.

Sunday Shona and i cycled down to the coast, i ended up on the gravel bike again as my solaris seatpost has given up the ghost having went from sagging to not staying up at all so its going for a service this week. Worst case will be taking the gravel bike on holiday with us.

Good to meet @tangledfeet and welcome to the madness. Mind you, you did tell the sh!test joke of the ride with your 3 imaginary tiny women prank on Peam. One thing i have discovered is that Peam does like to tell a story almost as much as OCP!

End of November - CLubbys night ride at Pitmedden
Xmas/New year - easy xc/gravel/mixed burl from dunfy round the coastal path to Culross, Limekilns and Aberdour.

Mind you, you did tell the sh!test joke of the ride with your 3 imaginary tiny women prank on Peam.

You'll be pleased to hear that my arsenal of jokes is very limited... that one joke pretty much depleted it!

Won't be along at the end of the month, sadly... have just been informed that the Orbea Laufey I'd hoped to have by now is delayed yet again and I'll be lucky if I get to give it to myself as a Christmas present.

Pitmedden isn't the place for a gravel bike, rigid fat bike - or, as I very quickly discovered, a short travel race hardtail!

Beard is now even more substantial, btw!

Ah now, claiming 3 widely different bikes can't be ridden at Pitmedden says more about the riders ability than the suitability of the bikes. Riding a bike fast enough to keep up with Clubby and Keith on their modern trail bikes is a different matter. I can get around Pitmedden on a rigid mtb, but, I will always be last by a long margin. Reckon a fat bike with the tyre pressures dialled right though would give a good showing.
Please do not think I am dissing you, Pitmedden is tough and some of those descents put the fear in me. Riding it at the speed needed to keep up with others is I concede the requirement for the right bike.

Fat bike is pretty decent round Pitmedden. About the only tyres I’ve ever had that actually gripped those bloody sniper roots.

@tangledfeet we’re not exactly going to be going enduro race pace, I’m sure you’d be fine. We’re not going to clear off into the distance and leave you behind. Will be avoiding some of the more techy trails as well.


Velo, you manage better there than you give yourself credit for. You always make it round, sometimes even with a smile on your face.

I might join you for this run, all depends on me getting my bike set up right and getting my seldom used lights to charge, oh and having enough energy not to die after first climb as fitness really has nose dived and I am not doing myself down when I say this, this time
