February MBUK (cough)

Not that I'm recommending that anyone's rushes out to buy this industry comic, but there is, hidden amongst the hype, advertising and pro-buy buy buy propaganda, a 4 page article on 'Mutant Mountain Bikes' - namely the twisted and over-fertile 'new wave' period of MTB development of the early 90s. Some great pictures of Trimbles, Formula One and Duncan's Purple Descender to be enjoyed amongst others. 8)

Turn to page 76 onwards in your local newsagent...

i bought a copy of mbuk on my way to work in december. the last time i bought one was about 2001 and i thought it was shite. it had stickers on and a free magazine......woo hoo, and apparantly loretz is gone. whilst being driven to cheshire on said day i flicked back and forth through the mag and soon got bored of looking at hairy kids on bikes with a million inches of travel, only to find to my horror when i closed the mag it was octobers edition......great. thank you texaco garage on the a34 for selling me a crap mag, two months out of date.

I bought it a couple of days ago having spotted that article - don't know why I picked it up off theshelf but I did (actually for once it wasn't in a plastic bag) . I probably bought my last MBUK in 94/5. It may as well be renamed the "Atherton and co sponsor monthly Blog". Some interesting pics that brought back some memories, but a pretty weak article.

Two trick pony

Err, what other 'well known forum'?? I only frequent this one and MTBR for reasons of sanity...

uk-mtb.com was formed when What mountain Bike forum was assimilated by Bike Radar.

It's a friendly place, good banter & laughs as well as bike related stuff, not a lot of retro stuff, but hey a bike is a machine to enjoy & have fun with, be it a new '08 rig, or a '88 rig.

Feel free to pop in & have a look.

The howies link is simply 'cos I love howies!

I did see that article and had to think some of those designs were cool, its a shame MBUK has gone the way it has, i still get it, but now get What Mountain Bike, to get the XC fix
