First started riding bikes in the late 70s. There wasn't a lot of money around. Tinkering with bikes became natural progression if you still wanted something to work.
I always fix things myself and have never had to go to a shop unless I need a spoke thread extending etc.....depends if you are hands on or not......on stw they dont want to chip their nails etc so I bet they take their bikes to shops quite a lot
It's made me think very seriously of starting a repair business. I mean I can handle pretty much any type of repair barring frame breakage and shock rebuilding - an excuse to extend my skills apart from anything else.
