Fat spokes

Alpinestars

Hello everybody! Can I ask you a question? I saw some "fat" spokes on some bikes, but my question is, can I buy them or do I need special hubs? :)

2.3/2.0mm spokes might need hubs with oversized spoke holes to get them through. Spoke holes range from 2.4mm to 2.6mm normally. When lacing the second side of a wheel getting the spokes through the hole can sometimes be a bit tight as you cannot alway get them trough striaght. Some ahve to enter the flange hole at an angle.

Fatter spokes would need special hubs. How thick are these spokes?

You are probably thinking of the Spinnergy wheels

Sapim CX Ray and DT Aerolite spokes are the two that come to mind. Unfortunately I don't think you will find them cheap anywhere.

Sorry, but I don't know much about it! Are there different sizes of spokes? If yes what's the size of "normal" ones?
