Fat Chance Shockabilly

OK for sale one fat chance shockabilly.. frame owned from new by me since about '94.. fitted with rock shox judy sl ti forks in lovely yellow and I had the frame powder coated to match. the forks have springs fitted in place of the original elastomers and I have both the hard and soft springs.I'm pretty sure I also fitted a white brothers damping cartridge back then too.
The frame came with the very earliest amp rear end which I snapped way back then and had replaced with the later triangle and shock with adjustable damping. I have the original shock as well. Shock has just had all the seals etc replaced and I have a second set spare. would you believe amp still supply them. I also have a full set of new bushes for the rear horst link pivots.
The bottom bracket has just been replaced with a shimano affair for now as the synchros ti one needs bearings. cups etc though all fine.
Cranks, wheels etc are a bit more of a mish mash.. front hub and cranks from a '99 marin B14 (which I also still own) replaced the rear hub with a modern revolver one recently .. It's barely turned a wheel since. rims ritchey OCR.XT V-brakes avid levers .. All cables brand new.. front derailleur mid 90's XT rear more modern LX.
I'll post photos later today or tomorrow if it stops raining long enough..

Looking for £350.. bike is currently at mine in France but can have it taken back to UK early new year for shipping if anyone interested. For collection it would then be in Southampton.

other details.. seatpost and stem polished USE items.. were that strange turquoise anodizing.. saddle original early 90's flite ti.... the headset is a brand new cane creek one as that's all I could find in 1" .. I do still have the one I removed (I think) which was a test item from ROND (aka white power) who did a few headsets in the mid 90's.. the bearings are shot but the cups etc are still perfect..

I do remember the frame was listed at £1650 new back then and I paid £519 new price for the forks ..that was a lot in the 90's.. hehe

I think the rear ritchey z-max tyre is probably as old as the frame too.. not a crack on it though. I also have .. wait for it.. a pair of almost new onza Dave & Dan tyres from the same era.. I had them sent as a free test pair to write a review for some London cycling mag. Not even sure they made it into actual production..Also still in perfect nick.

For those asking frame size.. not 100% sure where to measure from/to on this one but I've just run a measure from the centre of the bottom bracket to the underside of the seatclamp and that is exactly 17"..hope this helps.

Yeh I couldn't work out how to search the for sale thread for SAB's until I worked out I had to do it in the general search pane..Price is probably a bit low actually looking at other frame and forks alone that have been sold on here but sod it.. I've had it a long long time and I want it to go to a good home. I've ridden it.. raced it.. cycle couriered it in London, and just this July did the semaine federale here in France which was hosted by my local town and rode it 69km in one afternoon. probably what did for the bearings in the synchros BB. Time to say goodbye.

For those who've expressed interest via pm Northerndave has first dibs so far.First come first served.I have to confirm getting it brought to the UK can be done..I have 2 sets of people over here for xmas at the moment, but need to check space in their cars etc.If we can't sort something out bduc61 is in Paris and has 2nd dibs. French shipping would be easier for me but I'll be as fair as I can.

that's lovely and in my opinion, a bargain. would have a had a punt at it if it wasn't across the bigger pond! good luck with the sale… free bump! ;)

If mine wasn't the first pm, then I'm out.

To be fair ratbane you were the first pm but you asked for pics.. Northerndave jumped straight in with the "I'll take it 100%" . There's been lot of interest already but I feel I'm being fair offering first dibs to the man who gave me a definite "I want that". I posted a price and that's what I'll take. I'm not going to start any kind of auction to up the price. Sorry if anyone is offended or objects to the way I do things but I'm just trying to be fair.If the deal with Dave doesn't happen then we''ll see what happens but he seems pretty sure.
