Hello all,

Anyone got pictures of mid/late 90's Fat Chance bikes?

And after seeing the Serotta re-spray on another thread I did wonder...

Has anyone ever in recent years had an old Fat Chance re-painted with original decaling applied as originaly intended?

Currently thinking of building up a Buckshaver, which after digging out the loft, has a few more scrapes, chips and worn patches than I remembered, still presentable but maybe worth considering a new paint job if I decide to keep it long term.

Though I think long term I would now prefer a smaller size to the medium I have, I think I am more of a size 17" than 18.5" these days....

Try a search. Plenty of people have had fats resprayed. Rody or gil can supply decals (again, try a search). Plenty of places will do a good job, argos, m steel, mercian etc. Unless you know a really good sprayer I'd stick with a flat colour - for every one good repro 'flamboyant' fade or colour there are another four or five which miss the mark....

Hi John,

Never noticed the search facility, quite a lot to look through and not much of the colour schemes are to my taste LOL, though I have been down the red anodised route before with an old DynaTech Torus, Red Xlite and Hope.

Can't work out what to fit, plain old 8spd XT with silver or black? Is a black headset not obligatory due to the black seat collar? :)

I had it previously set up with XT and silver finishing kit with Amp F3's which are long gone, now intending to fit old Judy XC's hopefully next week.

Before we can give out advice like that pics are required :D

I used Argos, good service and finished product but not cheap, decals via Rody.

Feel free to get in touch for more details but, like John, I want to see some pics!

I just dug the frame out today LOL, was thinking of getting a couple of pics posted tommorow.

Its just your standard 1997 Medium Fat Chance Buckshaver in red with black decals with yellow borders though.

As promised a few pics of my old Fat,

That's only because of the crap camera LOL,

To be honest paint has been rubbed to the metal by cable just under the front of the top tube, a couple of small chips and scratches too, and at the seat clamp the paint looks a little fragile, plus the usual little chips on the cable guides.

But yeah it may look better when built back up, just weighing my options at the moment really.

I am probably going to go for a black headset, and hopefully going to fit old Judy XC until a pair of Judy SL 1" ahead turn up.(V brake single casting with black Decals)

I would have liked to have fitted a set of Original Crossmax, as I have had them on this fame and the dropouts practically disappear, I thought I may have had my girlfriends old ones but nothing in the loft.

Guess I will get it running and worry about colour schemes later LOL.

If you use Argos or similar then paint and decals will run you well over £100 so touch up the blemishes, build and ride I'd say (for what it is worth)
