Fat Chance – Which saddle

I put an Avocet Air 40R Ti on my Yo recently. Came at a good price, doesn't look out of place and feels okay.

The shape of the Swift positioned me too much forward on the Yo. Will make a new attempt on the WTB.

Knew you'd come through for me :D

Lots of you are suggesting a Brooks of one sort or another – I do like the look of them, and the rivets make 'em look rightly period too – tres expensive though. Any idea how long it takes to break one of these in??

Maybe I should just go with the Avocet that Retrobikeguy suggested  The saddle for all backsides!

I've tried a bonty saddle in the past, but can't get on with the cut-away shape – yet a flite is OK, go figure.

By the way Billinjah, SJS cycles stocks loads of Brooks saddles (they're big on the whole touring thing) – I might finally find something there worth buying, other than all the old retro bits :?

so they do! £115 though! is a brooks better to have from new so it shapes to yer arse or is a second hand one ok as its will be softer?

I bought a 2nd hand brooks pro off ebay as i wanted to try one, ended up with a vintage b17 too. The b17 is quite soft, about 30 years old according to seller. The pro is harder, being thicker, of a similar age to the 17 i think. So i've now tried two for the price of a new 17. I'd opt for a pro or a team pro if buying new. Would love a green one but discontinued now.
I haven't found any issue with the pro, but the b17 is asymmetric due to the wonky previous owner, i don't find it uncomfortable though, i presume over time it'll mould to me if it doesn't break first.
