It's not so much a question of what people originally fit. Got to understand, in the early 90, or mid for that matter, no one was thinking of collecting these bikes, but everyone was thinking of upgrading their bikes. The great upgrade to have: front suspension. So many people tossed aside their rigid forks to get a suspension fork. The aftermarket suspension fork business was a'boomin.

Also, I imagine a few of them have rusted/cracked/broken over the years; the ones that weren't removed for suspension, and ridden hard.

At one point there were a bunch of these, and the BOI forks being sold off cheap, but who knew?

Fair point , just like me throwing away my old etto helmet, been bag clothes, Dx Thumbies, Ringle bits etc etc in favour of new stuff ( at the time )
