For Sale Falcon Black Diamond? 22inch frame North Norfolk - £30

njb

Retro Newbie
It's too racer'y for me and have been molly-coddled on hybrids recently. Steering is razor-sharp!

Research suggests it could be a black diamond although no sticker on top tube.
Has been used this year but issues with the chain dropping off the rear sprockets. It's a challenge to get it into 1st gear, has been adjusted but the crappy TY rear derailleur may be the cause for that. The original Shimano 600 was replaced at the service.

Frame size 22inch - see pic
Tyres a bit cracked but hold air
Some component upgrades? (as pictured)

Frame looks OK from a distance but closer inspection shows some marks and rust which the pic illustrate.

Might dismantle if anyone wants any specific parts and/or to avoid the cost of shipping a rusty frame.

Located at NR10 5HF, 10 mins north of Norwich airport in Norfolk.

Your allowed to be open to offers but still states in forum rules that the advert has to have a price😆 unless I’m going blind…

Shimano 600 Arabesque levers. Lovely. What happened to the matching(?) rear mech.?
I have been formulating a theory about this... Jockey wheels, I think the jockey wheels get worn maybe even break so some LBS instead of replacing them sticks a cheap rear mech on and bins, yes I said it BINS!!! the lovely 600 Arabesque mech

That's a Majorca. The specs varied over the years but they were always a perfect base for LBS customisation - different chainset/gear ratios etc. At the time the Arabesque group set wasn't highly regarded and spares were next to impossible to find so yes, a lot got junked when worn. Pity it hasn't got the excellent Shimano Tourney brakes that were fitted to some.

Side pulls. They were a serious step above the other side pull brake calipers used by Falcon, the levers had hoods which was very unusual for bikes of that price point at the time.
