I don't know why.. The BBC's coverage over the past couple of seasons has just seemed a bit more involving. Sky just seem to have chucked a load of money at a new channel, filled it with shiny presenters and fancy graphics and sort of forgotten about the essence of it.

Jake thingmy, EJ and Coulthard, whilst at times irritating, seem quite a reasonable blend and a team that works together as pit lane pundits - despite the occasional needle between Coulthard and EJ.
The graphics used by Sky, and the funky analysis with the touchscreen TV, just leaves me cold. Whether Hill will improve and become more natural as part of that team, I'm not sure - I'm probably being unfair, but at the moment he seems ever-so-slightly out-of-touch compared with Brundle.
As an F1 fan of the last twenty years... I actually like what Sky are doing...

Eddie Jordan. No comment necessary
David Coulthard. A solid number two... just like when he was driving
I like Ben Edwards, always have... but again shackled by DC
And lets remember it wasn't Sky buying F1, it was the beeb desperately trying to get out of a multi year contract that they signed with Bernie. So not really Murdochs fault (on this occasion)
Oh, and Schumacher go home... still dangerous after all these years... (that's for you HF!)

Can't Sky just have the rights to the live showing and the BBC have the extended highlights (as it is when it's not BBC's turn, which is needed to appease the need for it to be on FTV TV at the moment). I wouldn't mind that. It's been great being able to go out for a ride and come back and watch the race even missing out the hours of hanging around while it rains and is red flagged.
Tomorrow I'm going to have to watch the start hit record, go out riding and then come back and watch the race in full length without missing out the boring bits.

BBC sold off the rights to F1 to Sky because they have something better to do this year. Apparently there's some local athletics meet in London that's far more deserving of national coverage than F1. I think it's called "London 2012" or something similar.
I'm glad Sky bought the rights because the alternative was to go back to the bad old days of BBC only showing highlights and the very occasional live race if there wasn't something more important happening in Eastenders or "Live" golf and cricket tournaments that were over running due to a pigeon landing on the pitch or something similarly exciting.
Once the current BBC contract runs out (end of 2012 ?) they'll have a hard job convincing anyone that they are serious about F1 coverage having subcontracted most of it out this year. I can see them losing all coverage rights either to Sky or to ITV.
Every practice session, every qualifying session, every race shown live on a dedicated channel with no advert breaks ? Don't see anything wrong with that myself.
The only annoying thing was that we were going to cancel our Sky Sports subscription due to a complete lack of decent sport on the channels and now we need to keep paying !
