F---ing boy racers !

A neighbours son ( who is a member of the local cycle club ) and who I`ve known for a long time was out with 4 mates yesterday on a training ride and was wiped out by a lunatic in a car.

I `ve known two of these guys since teenage years, one of them was airlifted to to hospital with smashed pelvis, the neighbours son had huge gashes in his leg, a badly broken knee and all front teeth knocked out along with other cuts etc. Two more guys have other broken bones and one escaped with minor cuts and bruises. One guy has been discharged, other 3 are still in hospital and will be for some time

The guy in the car ( with his girlfriend ) said he lost control..............funny how he was on the opposite side of the road coming around the corner.... :x He`s also in hospital with police guard on his room !!

This kind of thing just makes me so f---ing angry..........

And what makes him a boy racer?

there is no excuse for bad driving and causing horrific accidents like this. but adults drive just as bad. you cant tar everyone with the same brush. we have all been young and enjoyed our cars. suddenly when your young and drive cars makes you a boy racer instead off an inexperienced idiot behind the wheels.

As soon as you get behind the wheel you are a responsible adult whatever age. and must be tried as one whatever accident you have caused.

Thoughts to your friends and speed recovery.

regardless if it was the drivers fault or a accident, this kind of thing and the general state of UK drivers are the main reason i dont ride on the roads.

almost got killed myself when i car smashed into me as he pulled out of a junction without checking....stopped using the bike to commute after that.

Same here, (though i've not had any bad accidents) i have a huge distrust of car drivers (always thought of a "Motorist" as someone actually interested in cars and driving), i like road bikes but dont see me ever buying one due to having to ride it on the road amongst cars.

I commute to work but it's only 2.5 miles (fortunately), about a quarter of it is shopping precinct, one tight corner though where some cars still try to get past going round despite the double white lines in the middle of the road

Very wary of every junction i ride towards and never assume a car aproaching is going to stop and not just pull out, very wary of car doors opening too.

Bad news for those riders, hope they make a speedy recovery, hope the driver gets what he deserves.

Very Nasty but alas these things happen

I however will not be pushed off the roads on my bike although as I get older I get more cautious.

As a side note today when motorbiking I came across to roadbikes two abreast on a narrow section of busy A-road. I know this is technically legal but there are times and places. Eventually they went single file and I slowly passed but they shouted abuse at me for coming too close, at 15mph and a yard to their right surely is not too close when trying to avoid oncoming traffic.

Bad road use comes from all sides of the road using public :(

Wishing your friends a speedy recovery and hope the sue the driver for every penny they can
