Extreme Randonneuring going on.

He's already gone much further than the current record holder. But "point to point" is the point. He was so far ahead early on I wasn't expecting much suspense at the end. In shorter events he's known for riding several days without sleep, but that's not likely to happen this far in.

400k to go @ 61 days. He can probably knock that out in a days hard riding. But the road ahead looks pretty convoluted. I've noticed that his daily average distance has been going up steadily. So he's not slowing down. 1k a day increase may not seem like much, but averaged over 17,000k and 60 days, it does represent something. If they had allowed him to bicycle into China at Tajikistan this would have been over several days ago.

The tracker was up for a bit last night (USA). He's taking a slightly longer, but less convoluted route.
Then the tracker went down again.
He's probably going to finish this thing with no one noticing.

The tracker has been down for 5 hours, with 218k to go he may have finished already. On good roads 25kph is well within reach for Solfiane. He often cruises at 30kph. I suppose a big meal and good night sleep will pass for a celebration. I hope he has friends there to greet him.

Well here it is.

  • Attempt and Progress: Sehili launched his solo, unsupported journey on July 1, 2025, from Cabo da Roca, Portugal, aiming to break the 64-day record for the 16,000+ km route to Vladivostok, Russia.27 By early September, he had traversed Europe, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and the challenging Pamir Mountains, covering more than 17,600 km and being over 600 km ahead of the record pace.46 He was reported to be in the vicinity of the Chinese border, having recently passed through the Tadjikistan region.

  • Failure and Aftermath: On September 2, 2025, Sehili confirmed on Instagram that he had been denied entry into Russia at the border with China after a lengthy and frustrating wait, despite having traveled nearly 200 km to reach an alternative crossing point.45 He described the experience as "dechirant" (heartbreaking), acknowledging he was so close to achieving his goal.4 He has since announced a ten-month period to decide whether to attempt the record again or accept the endeavor as a significant, albeit incomplete, achievement.
