I just read this and I think you were involved in the discussion we had a short while ago about my LBS.
This could be that watershed moment for these bikes, I imagine regulation of the ones on the road (requiring insurance at least) will follow with the ban of them in offroad parks and centres.
One passed us on Saturday at Swinley, he was courteous (not all will be like this some will just bomb past in their smugness) though and slowed to pass us as we climbed a long shallow gradient, we didn't hear him coming and he disappeared very quickly such was the speed differential.
