eBay's totally crushing my soul

So, you were waiting to outbid the highest bidder?

People forget, Ebay isn't an auction.

It's a contest to see who can get the winning bid, and that means bidding as high as you can afford (and as late as you can, if you don't want to give others time to think).

If you're outbid, then it was too expensive for you. And you can bid late, sniping programs only bid the maximum the sniper wants to pay. so, if you're beaten by a sniper, they bid more than you. Simple.

The snipers are here to stay, hate the game.

I used to bounce between 2 open windows, bumping up the bid in the last few second until the end. Sometimes I'd win most times I wouldn't If you can't beat 'em you have to join 'em as I have.

You can just bid your highest right away, hope it too high for the next guy and then win. If you get outbid by pennies who's to say the next bidder didn't put in hundreds of pounds more.

Even with a sniper you've still got to put in your maximum, other snipers will have to do the same as will other Ebay multiple window bidders, you've still got be higher than them.

All it takes out is the windows hovering at the very end.

Thats what i do, and if i lose i just put it down to them wanting it more. Sometimes you see people bid more on a used item than what it is new with a quick google search.

I've put a six figure number (in GBP) for a three figure normal selling rate - just to be sure based on the assumption a dedicated moron hasn't done the same via a sniper tool. When the bidding ends, there's only a two figure number difference at most.

That could go horribly wrong...i don't mind losing out to someone who wants it more than me, i do mind getting bid up by an automated sniper which is just making me pay more than i would have had to pay if it wasn't there.

i've never used a sniper tool, i've never even heard of them til now, but when i was bidding on my rc100, in the last half second i won with a bid £20 higher. if its meant to be, you'll get what you want.

I'm new to Ebay.
Last week I lost a set of nos Odessey straddle rods by $10. At the time I was devastated but, that loss inspired me to manufacture my own custom straddles out of Avid Tri-dangles and 2.0 spokes. They're going to look way cooler than the Odessey's would've.

In the case of rare hard to find parts I snipe them with large bids. I run the risk of over paying sometimes but, I prefer this to losing out on rare parts I want.

Being so close to the American market is great! I setup a second account that ships to a friends bike shop in the US. Now I can bid on items that only ship to the US with little or no competition! Last week I bought m900 cranks with rings for $61.00, an XTR cass for $36.00 and a mint rd-m910 for $61.00 as well.

Cheers

But a sniper IS just a person bidding - it's no different to someone sat there, counting down to press the button manually at the last second - Someone has still 'bid' more than you.
