Ebay US Shipping Question-I want your opinion

man thats a frustrating position to be in.

It is. I got teased a while back in the eBay Madness thread for selling a Grafton Jersey on eBay and limiting shipping to the states. It sold for a very buyer-friendly price (the guy got a DEAL!), but the lack of issues over international shipping was worth it to me, especially under eBay's current buyer-friendly feedback system. Looking back at that auction...my mistake wasn't not offering international shipping, but rather not putting a reserve on it.

Not to say that you international folks are all bad news.... On the contrary, I sent out about 50 packages full of SRP bolts to Retrobike folks...all over the world and across many languages. I'd do it all over again. But those were straight-up sales. International auctions through eBay (thanks to eBay! grrr) are a complete PITA.

I doubt the buyer would give you bad feedback, at least not consciously, but eBay feedback rules make it possible for buyers to express disapointment from simple communication issues, or shipper delays, or damaged boxes, as general feedback dissatisfaction. Things went a little rougher than they thought they would...nobody's fault...just happened that way, and *plink*...three stars.

If you think about it...not very fair to any of us, actually.

Ebay has gotten to be much more of a hassle for sellers ever since they dropped the option of giving feedback to buyers.

I suspect the real reason is that it leads to more capricious bidding and, by extension, more revenue from sellers' fees, but their official justification was that the change would generate more honest feedback from buyers, since they won't be worried about retaliatory feedback. As somebody who buys and sells on ebay, I can appreciate this since I used to worry that a retaliatory feedback or two could hurt my sales later on.

The obvious solution (to me) would have been to assign every member two feedback scores: one for your transactions as a seller and one for your buying activity. Then give sellers the option of automatically prohibiting bids from buyers with a score below a certain percentage (or too many negs from sellers).

Alas, that would probably make too much sense.

I heard people just open two ebay accounts - one as a seller and one as a buyer. Job done. I guess you can still do this?

Hello all,

I'm sorry to put up this topic but I'm the french person in question.

I already apologized but I would like to do it here cause yesterday I read this message when I was dreaming about my futur bike.

So I'm so sorry and really apologize for my misunderstood !!!

You have to know that "actuel" in french mean current, so the translation of "actual" was easy for me ^^ It's an error from me to did'nt check it but I could tell you that I was so excited that I've just "repressed it".

So if you have to do a deal with a foreigner, be sure to be extremly clear and to guide him in the understanding !

One more time sorry my dear Seattle's president, and thank you for all the quickly answered questions, and for your efficiency.

Bye
