eBay now charging to send money as 'gift' payments

I've always been paying or passing the payment on for gift since mine comes of credit card generally. Right royal pain in the butt for small amounts.
So I've usually worked out the fee (online calcs help) and used normal payment, then my address is there and it's all easy for the seller, plus you get protection.

Hence I hate it when people say gift only. If they want me to pay by paypal then they should pay the charges and add it to their total asking price. Else send me your BACS details, it's easy and cheaper (or even better, stay local and do it cash in hand ;))

so now I just make an offer with the added charges in mind.

Remember the Forum rule though
We strongly suggest you do not use paypal gift, especially for new users or those with low feedback. As well as giving no protection in case of issue this also breaches paypal's terms and conditions.

Ive sent £80 via gift and no fee was taken either end. That was from the bank as the paypal was empty
I think its something to do with limits :?

looks like something happened when I went back a page to check what payment option I had selected and the charge disappeared but can't understand why it popped up in the first pplace but it made me click on the hyperlink that explained the fees are applicable to transfers if they come out of your bank account b ut not if you have money in your paypal account itself. Weird, don't know what changed to make it happen.
