lol, but they were cool and I have a pair of cufflinks that cost more than that and are a lot less use, fewer people smile when they see them and I could not leave them on the coffee table strategically positioned to stimulate discussion/lust/laughs over a few drinks. The fact they actually serve a function is just a bonus!

At the end of the day it's only money, you can't take it with you. If you have some disposable cash and a hobby then why not spend it on it? What's the harm in spending ridiculous amounts on old bike stuff?

At the end of the day neither money or bike parts or old cars or snuff boxes will do you any good at all when you're 6 ft under

OK, so how does the price of these NOS trinkets compare from when they were sold new, relative to the price they are fetching today, taking into account $100, for example, was a sheetload more of your weekly pay packet 20 years ago. Muliply by the factor that you cant just walk into any decent LBS and buy the stuff today, and we might still be miles ahead.
Christ knows I couldnt justify some little bit of CNC chi-chi goodness that cost the price of four tanks of petrol back then, that might cost the price of one tank of fuel today!!
