Ebay content - got right up my nose

By the very definition of his reply then you should be able to return it if it doesn't fit, wonder how accommodating he would be to that idea.

i asked

'hi there
i own four of these frames and i would love to own another.
colud you tell me if the tubes are hydroformed?
also, can you measure the diameter of the mark and can you give the headtube-toptube junction a good bash with a mallet to ensure its not got a hairline fracture?
thanks'

You're right that it's not a cheapie then! Bizarre that they would miss out on a potentially quite large amount of money for the sake of 5 minutes.

But then the ad is all-caps, includes the phrase "OR KEEP AS EYE-CATCHING URBAN FIXIE", components are listed when the sale is for a frameset... & Tektro on a Colnago?

Seems like an unnecessarily snotty response - but of course he's within his rights to prefer not to allow viewing. And roadies spend long hours perfecting that air of condescension - it's as much part of the culture as leg-shaving.

In his favour, he's got 100% feedback on over 500 transactions, and despite the all-caps auction description, he spells (and uses) "commensurate" correctly. The feedback he's left is polite and literate, and all the frames he's sold are of about the same size, suggesting they're his personal bikes rather than some stolen hoard.

My advice: take a deep breath, smile, and spend your money elsewhere.

Just one of the thousands of eBay messers out there!

I'd never consider buying anything of that value without first seeing it. Let him keep it and move on. 8)

i agree with one eyed jim. everything adds up and he seems ligitimate, i didnt think he wasnt. he shouldnt really have any problems with a viewing though

Not that it matters, but I really don't like that bike. Some nice Masters on e-bay though.

I agree though, it does seem like a strange response.
