Ebay content - got right up my nose

Quite fancy a road bike thats up the road from me, Im pretty new to road bikes and only have ever owned one which has a 54cm top tube. This ebay bike is 55cm and with frames being so different size wise I sent an email asking as only up the road could I pop over and check me against the size of the frame.

Here is the reply :?

Sorry, the purpose of using ebay as an online selling tool is that we don't have people coming to the house to try things out! There are lots of watchers and we have sold various bikes before, and we are confident of selling this one without spending the time arranging to meet/try out, etc.
Maybe not the bike for you, I guess
. The bike will be suitable as we have said for someone of average proportions from 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 11.

I was actually quite taken back when I recieved this , Have I really asked something that bad? bearing in mind its not exactly a cheap bike?

Quite normal and acceptable to arrange to view a potential purchase on ebay.

Even more so if a significant amount of money is involved

some people get touchy when you want to go to their house.
ebay allows you to sell without the face to face which a lot of people really dont like
i do think as your close and the expense they should let you some see it!
maybe you should buy it, make them deliver it to yu and then decide you dont want it!
also if theyve sold lots of bikes they should know the importance of fit! :roll:

Oh yes 'Could you tell me the combined length of all the spokes' I can think of worse ways to spend an afternoon
I wouldn't trust them very much if they are that concerned about you knowing where they live :? Probably got a garage full of stolen bikes :twisted:
