Easiest way to remove and replace grips

I used the spit and thumb method on one wd40 and a welding rod on the other. All done. Thanks gents.

One more for the lock ons. I hate grip faffing. :)

Hairspray is fine... Until the grips get wet then the slip on the bars soooo easily.

the easiest way i have found is to loosen the brake lever and ppull it against the grip. the grips slide off in no time and dont stretch like they do when removed by sliding something under neath them.

Knitting needle for me.

for me too, or a chopstick. Put the handle bar with the grip in a glass of water, gently stick the knitting needle in and you can just pull the grip of!

You sir win the best three consecutive words in this thread competition. Absolutely superb.

my best method

small srewdriver to inject some window cleaning liquid
work on the grip to start to detach it
works pretty well to undo
to put back a new one , spray a touch in the grip - rub inside with your finger to spread it thinly - you may dry a bit with a cloth if there is too much
slide on the bar - it should not slide too easily as it means there is too much liquid
wait a touch so it dries
