A couple of classic 1984 bikes in need of saving/restoring. A StumpJumper Sport and Muddy Fox Vixen.

Both look to be pretty original but in a bit of a sorry state.

Stumpy is lovely but has what looks like a lot of surface (?) rust...




I had a mint vixen, not an easy sell...went for £100 a while ago in bits n bobs....however I actually really needed the head badge after I sold it so if anyone get this one I'd pay ££'s for that part!

Yes.... annoyingly the Vixen I sold had a mint one on it.

The last thing I need is two more projects but I couldn’t pass these up since they weren’t too far out of my way and the seller said they were on their way to the dump if no one had taken them. Both one-owner-from-new with lots of original bits but also lots of rust. I’ll get onto the Stumpjumper over winter and start a restoration thread to go with my 1988 Stumpjumper restoration thread.

I picked this up at my local bike recycling centre last week where it had been diverted from landfill. At first glance/from afar it looked kinda interesting but it got much more interesting the closer I looked. As you can see, everything had been completely covered in cheap black rattlecan...

Paint in this one is beyond saving so it’ll need to be a full strip and repaint. The rest should clean up nicely including the original wheels.
