Must be a really rare and early pre production release of a groupset that Shimano introduced in 1989 as well………

Muddying the waters a bit there, that actual 1984 bike is more Araya than Muddy Fox. Very tasty though it is. Here’s mine


Poor chap possibly thinks older = more dollar. I’d argue that the yellow 1990 one is easier to sell for more money than the 1984 one like mine as it appeals to a much wider crowd.

I think early muddy fox is a sound investment, although as you say, a 1990 bike would be an easier sell.

I think an "expert" has told him it's 84, cos it's a yellow muddy fox, and really valuable, so he's sticking with that.

From what I recall 1" 1/8 was introduced on the 1990 model year bikes. So roughly mid 1989 onwards.
