Early MTB forks... What are they called?

I coined the term "unicrown" in 1983, with the intention of making it a trademarked brand name featuring a stamped unicorn on the fork blade. I sold my interest in MountainBikes shortly afterward, and no one bothered to trademark a very good product name, so it became generic just like..."mountain bike."
