Early 90's Marin for road duties - weight question

I love my steel Marin Bolinas Ridge, that I have done up as a cheap tourer with STX hubs and made up some Sputnik wheels.

But it is not light, or particularly fast. Although great fun, hugely versatile and very comfortable. I went for downtube shifters for a 3x7 setup: downtube, to keep the handlebars free and not risk breakage if it fell over; 7-speed to keep rear wheel dish to an absolute minimum. I use this for heavy loads.

Even before the Sputniks it weighed 13.85 kilos, so a bit more now.
