My frame has a little stud 2-3" above the bottom bracket,i take it its for the E-Type fitting front mech that is half supported by the bottom bracket cup, having never fitted or ran one of those,i dont know what to look for when choosing 1[might as well buy one   ]
I was thinking that they're not the usual fitting and i can get a cheap Xtr one off ebay
Can any one tell me the part number for an xtr 'non-compact' front mech e-type fitting
Would be a help thanks :)

Nice link
I've got the M952 E-Type on the P20 shifting 46/34/24, great front mechs :D

I think E-types are great - no clamp damage and no issues about aligning the mech. I don't understand why they aren't more widely used in mtb designs.

Incidentally the one on my Orange C16 didn't need a special bb. Well it didn't get one anyway, and it never complained.

are there diffrent sizes for compact and non compact then? i put one on my c16r with a compact chainset and it works ok. i dident give it much thought really orthough there is a bloody big gap between the chainring and mech.
