No the first part before the @ Every time i chose some thing Gmail wouldn't allow. It had to be based around my name. Which i don't want.

I have two gmail accounts, one is based on my name, the other isn't. (4ndybis@ & thecycledoctor@)

Maybe your choices were already taken? It took me a while to find one like AndyB, but thecycledoctor one went through straight away.
