Dura Ace front shifter woes

Morning all ,

Tried out my new build on the way to work this morning .
All worked ok but for the front changer . It's a 7700 Dura Ace downtube shifter that doesn't want to stay where I put it , regardless of how much I try to tighten it by hand , and gradually edges towards the stop , it will end up shifting to the small chainring if I don't keep adjusting it , and that will never do!
It has a loop on it to tighten it up , and I'm tempted to use something on/through it to stop it from moving , but don't want to bend that either .
Should there be a washer or something between the mounting bolt and the plastic cover over the lever ?

Can anyone advise pleeeeese ?

Thanks ,

Mike

I remember stripping my DA 7401 gear levers and putting them back together wrongly and they just slid back,
after trial and error fitting a few different ways, they worked.

Hi Richard ,

It's a 7700 shifter .

Cheers Ian , think I'll have a rummage for a thin washer to put between the bolt and plastic cover when I get home . Should be a nice ride , the Sun has come out now 8)

Still not sure if the frame is too big . Will put a quick thread in the readers bikes section soon .
But that's something I will find out during next weeks group ride which will be around 50-60 miles

My loft is ok actually , and I draw up the ladder when I'm up there so my finds are not found

Good plan,

Would work for me except there is not room for the ladder!!! Luckily my wife avoids ladders but i have to be careful she does not look up through the hole.

Last year I was waiting for a large box of bits, I had my friend call round and distract my wife. The van arrived and we got the box into the garage without being noticed. In the garage i unpacked the box and got the stuff into the attic quickly. I then cut the box up and got it into my friend's boot before my wife appeared.

What a tangled web we weave....

Richard

p.s. The plan worked so well, I have used it since!

I'm going to have to think up something . Mrs Muz is moving in next weekend . At the moment , I only have to hide stuff on Thursday evening before she comes over on Fridays .
You should see the state of my kitchen mid-week  Thank goodness for easy wipe vinyl flooring
