Im thinking of running a 12-23 Dura ace cassette on my Kona,is anyone using one atm on their bike, any probs at all?

thanks

Shouldn't be a problem - Shimano cassettes are pretty much all interchangeable with just a few exceptions. I've had an Ultegra 11-23 on an XT hub before without any problems.

How many speeds are you talking - 8 9 or 10? What's your hub?

Unless it's 8spd UG cassette with threaded top sprocket it'll fit on the hub.

And unless it's an old-school short cage rear mech for 12-28 cassettes, you won't get terribly good shifting from about 16T on.

I have a 12-27 9sp DA on my Yeti. King hub/XTR mech and works nicely.
Cheaper and lighter than XTR, and more sensible ratios too :D

I used to swap between road (11-23) and off-road (11-32) wheels on an XTR 951 mech with no adjustment, and shifting was equally sweet with both.

Run a Dura Ace rear mech and cassette on a Hugi rear hub.

Very, very nice shifting with Pauls thumbie mounts and Dura Ace end shifters.

Bally for you then.

It was a bag o' shi'te when I was messengering with 12-23 8 speed until I changed the STX mech for a 600 ultegra. BITD.

Yah, bally for me, I guess, or maybe unlucky for you.

Maybe your STX had sloppy pivots - that certainly wouldn't have helped - and if your hanger alignment isn't quite right (and mine rarely was when I was a messenger) a shorter mech produces less error. A road mech's always a good match to a road cassette, naturally.
