Dura Ace 9 Speed Blues

Re:

Interesting points, chaps. I've got the bike almost ready to pack
away for Majorca this weekend so will let you know how the hanger straightening went. Here is a shot of the clamp bolt - I don't see
another way of clamping it to improve anything ..

Re:

That would make the angle of the cable more severe from cable exit point to the clamp. I would imagine it may make things worse ie rubbing off of the alloy exit point on the mech . .

Re:

Every day is a school day, as they say!! I've never known about that in all my years in the bike - WOW! Ok, I will give it a shot if the hanger straightening fix doesn't improve things dramatically.

Many thanks!!

:D

Further reading here btw: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/dura-ace.html I have to say your photo looks fine to me though.

Other things to consider...

B-spring adjustment (suggested by Pigman) if you have one on your mech and also your cassette - could it be a frankenstein cassette put together with mismatched parts - e.g. wrong thickness sprockets and/or spacers? If you have an accurate vernier caliper you should be able to check easily enough.

Nice one, Pionir

Reading with interest, all the permutations of compatibility combinations now!

Poss a stupid comment but a quick google suggested the TVT Carbon frame had 128mm rear spacing which afaik is less than the usual 130mm, might this be part of the problem? Definitely suggests a look at the rear spacing is worth a go.

Reason I googled was that I was wondering if it had an asymmetric rear triangle like the old Pace MTB's.

Re:

It's a DA 9 speed titanium cassette NOS out of the box, so no issues
there, but the other points are all very valid and worth looking into.

Anyway, Majorca-Time!

I'll let you know how I got on when I get back.

Thanks again everyone!

Craig
