Dug my old LTS 1 out - rear shock help

Hey all, great little forum which has brought back some good memories!

I built up a 97 LTS 1 back when I was 16 (1998) and something I had not really thought about at the time was that when I turned 17 I'd have a car....suffice to say the bike didn't really turn a wheel after that.

Anyway, I love the bike to bits and it is going to be with me forever, apart from the DH version with the bendy tubes this is top of my list of sexy bikes :D
I stripped it down and rebuilt it some time ago and it is totally mint apart from the dreaded Rock Shox Super Deluxe (Trunnion) :x

The shock works but I'm not sure it has ever been 'right', I was a bit of a fat boy back then and maybe it was under sprung. The thing is even now I'm not so fat it feels really bouncy, lack of damping in rebound for sure. It is not leaking and has not blown out on me.

So a couple of questions to the experts if you don't mind.

Does anyone know the correct spring weights vs body weight? I'm currently 13.5 stone but plan on losing a stone or two (hence the bike use ;))

Can I get the shock rebuilt and if so, where? Cost is not really an issue. I'd buy a new one but I cannot find one for love nor money. I don't want to downgrade to a 'coupe'

I would also love to buy one of the other shock options, anything that isn't a Rock Shox really - does anyone know of anything still available? I don't want air so the Reisse is out. I'm sure I've seen a Fox and Stratus...I'm willing and able to machine or modify if needed.

I appreciate any advice.

I'm sure you'd be able to score a replacement trunnion mount deluxe. Someone was selling a few NOS on here a while back I seem to remember, also seen some on ebay. I think BETD may even still be knocking them out for about 30 quid so have a butchers at their website - got a GT ful suss page with bearing kits to replace the bushes etc too.

I had an LTS frame that I was planning on building up and looked into different shock options. Mine was the older standard bolt through linkage - unfortunately with the trunnion mount you're more limited so somone else will have to answer that for you...

Ebay sometimes had the shocks for sale.
You can set the spring harder and softer and can also try to set the rebound.
Do you have the super deluxe?
It's a nice one, I have bought a titanium spring for it, but it's just a bit to large for my shock.
I you need more help, just ask.

Thanks for the input guys.

Yes I have the Super already, I can have it rebuilt for £70 but as I remember even back in the day it was not regarded as a great shock. I can't be arsed with the bobbing anymore :o

The only people I can find with a fitting shock available is Risse, which although air and I wanted spring, seems to have good reviews and they are very responsive to email. $225 delivered to the UK from the US and preset to match my weight, bargin.

Think I will buy it so the bike is usuable and then butcher the Super Deluxe along with another shock to make one fit, maybe a Fox Vanilla R or something and I'll have the trunion mount machined to fit or made afresh. Trying to find a donor shock with only 1.5" of travel is not easy though, I wonder what would happen with a 2" travel one?..
