Hi Alex,

Please find a couple of pics attached.
Apparently when used in anger these frames could be prone to cracking around the top of the seat stay (because of weakening caused by the 2 tappings fitted, 1 either side of seatstay to take accessories). If this happened in competition it could break out the chainstays & right-off the frame. Serious riders had the weak area plated over & seam welded to aviod the risk, some also had a triangular gusset between seatstay & post.

looks like a bodge to me, If cannondale had these as race bikes they wouldve strangthed that area when being built, not plated over the top like that.
I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

It's not hiding it very well.
Even Stevie Wonder could tell, from across the street, that frame is totalled.
As or the seller's "explanation"... :roll:

i get the impression that the seller was sold that excuse by his 'friend' when he purchased the frame.. and he fell for it.
