Dropout Adjusters

Ok, Having trouble fitting some new 1.8 tyres. There's not much room between the tyre and chainstay.

Is ok to remove the dropout adjusters and slide back the wheel to make some extra room :?:

that gap looks fine to me :D my raleigh massif has about the same gap running 1.75's

That picture in the link above is with a 1.5 tyre on. Had the 1.8s on yesterday and they were rubbing on the frame slightly when the tyres were under load.

Taking out the dropout adjusters and sliding the wheel right back would give me the extra room.

Silly question  Would i need to add an extra link to the chain and readjust the gears :?:
