Bless ya Al.

Horrible when they go.

Mine lasted 18 years.

At least you can say that he had an awesome life with you and you loved him to bits.

Sorry to hear about your loss Al

19 is a very good age for a cat, it's always really sad when a much loved pet is lost.

Can't beat re homing a mongrel moggie, my cat was abandoned in a box outside a rescue centre, no idea why, she's lovely, soft as shite too.

Thanks for all your kind words.

felix, as all our pets are was a rescue. Had him and his sister Oscar from 8 weeks old. She died at 15. oscar + felix, the odd couple,Jack Lemmon Walter matthae film.

Still, now Toby the Field Spaniel is top dog followed by jake Field spaniel second our adopted cat in Italy third our adopted parrot forth, Fiona the missus fifth then me!!

Al. just the two of us in bed tonight!

I Know how you feel al, I had to have my dog put down after having him for nearly 15 years, it hurts like hell, and it hurts even more when you have to put them to sleep, but he will always be with you chap.. ;) and if he was suffering then it was the kindest thing you could have done...

Chin up mate, he would not want you to be sad.. :)

My heart is with you also Al,its terrible to lose ones friends after so long

But at 19 years old ,thats a fair old age for a moggie, mind you they do sleep an awful lot

My mog ,at the end ,woke me up by clawing my face, but i kept pushing her away shouting at her for waking me at 3am,she kept on trying to snuggle up to me but i kept pushing her away,I feel so shite for that but i didnt realise what was wrong
It was an impacted bowel causing her immense pain and all she wanted was to be close to me at the end
I tried to make it up by forcing the vet to do exploratory operations in the faint hope that he would be able to help her,but despite a £2000 vet bill it was hopeless.
[8 yrs ago + tears are in my eyes as i type]
I think now it was selfish of me to ask the vet to continue the treatment instead of saying goodbye

I know this isnt what you want right now but it might help,Get a second hand cat that really really needs a loving home, the cattery will tell you whos been there the longest, give some poor soul a new start

Thats really sad, Sorry.

felix had gone through it a couple of years ago. He was attacked in the garden by two dogs! We had to go to Exeter for surgery. They pinned him back together but after a few weeks they had to remove his front left leg.
So we had another two years with him.

He also had other health problems but they were under control.

He's in the best place now, God bless the little fella.

Al.

I know exactly how you're feeling Al. Our Manx (of course...) cat Annie had to be put to sleep on Monday because of liver failure - she was 16 years old and we'd had her ever since she was about 2 weeks old, when I found her, abandoned by her feral mother and covered in lice, in a hedge that I was trimming (with a flail hedgetrimmer, she had a lucky escape).
I brought her home to Karen and we cleaned her up and fed her with a syringe every few hours, day and night until she was weaned.

And here she lived ever since, in the same house and garden all her life. She was one of the most outstanding animals that I've ever known (and I've had a few...). For the first time in 16 years I'm actually alone when I'm "home alone".

Although I miss her terribly, I think that it's only fair to say that Karen is absolutely heartbroken and there's nothing I can do to change that. We've decided to get away to Greece for a few weeks (we leave this weekend, short notice then) and hopefully being in different surroundings will help....

Thanks Andy,

Have a great time away and send my kind regards to Karen.

Al.

Thanks Al, I'll be sure to do that.....

I'm sure that a few weeks away, with hopefully some sun, will be good for both of us.

Andy.
