Ok, I've finally accepted that the fever for buying frames/parts will burn less brightly but never quite extinguish. But does the need to continually fiddle with a perfectly respectable and working bike ever stop? Does having a 'final' build equal complacency and the death of ambition or maturity and acceptance of what life has to offer?

I have probably asked the 'fever' question before (here or in my head, probably both), but are there any words of comfort or am I alone?

Hmmm I do hope it calms down....

Im already in trouble...

Girlfriend " You love your bike more than me"

Me " Which one? "

Such a bad instint answer

So you won't continue searching for something you didn't know you needed?

Interesting. Two examples are my retro Yetis (as I have modern ones too). The Ultimate was built to spec dreamt up during A-level Biology lectures yet once it was 'finished' I couldn't bring myself to ride it. It's 'revised' build will make it a worthy rider and still a great "show bike" but Idoubt it will ever be be reconsidered 'finished'. On the other hand the FRO is nearing completion and replica status. And then it will be left to hang from the rafters, occasionally polished, oiled and fettled but definately a completed work. :D

"Does it ever stop?"

Well there are eight bike hooks in my garage. And I only have seven bikes. Hook #1 is reserved for something very special albeit thus far elusive

In a word.....No, probably not......but as time goes on I'm finding it's a case of ever diminishing circles as I gradually home in on my idea of 'perfect'.....no doubt once said bike has reached this Zen state I'll decide that's not quite right and fiddle some more
