Like, how can you tell if they're overheating? I stopped tonight and cleaned the sea filter (which seemed OK), but that's about the limit of my knowledge with them. To me, the engine is the expensive yellow thing under the deck.
Check that you have water emerging somewhere from a little pipe. It is water cooled? Other than that it is a slow reving engine so if it smells very hot, something isn't right.
What engine is it :?: my father is a forman on the norfolk broads at a boatyard marine engineer extraordinary basically if you have water emerging from the side of your boat (and you have not hit an ice berg) Then you should be o.k.if your exhaust pipe sealant burns off and you sink rapidly then you have an overheating issue,but not for long
